GEE-GEEís born out of boredom, but no way is GEE-GEEís boring!
We first opened our doors on July 10,1978 because Gee-Gee was bored (Gee-Gee is her nickname). Yes thatís right Gee-Gee's children were all in school and she wanted something to do.
Gee-Gee was born in Brainerd, Minnesota and met her hubby in school there. He moved to Tacoma, Washington with his folks and some time later she followed and they were married in 1962. They have 3 children, 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandsons.
Everyone has helped and worked in or on the store and its many additions since it started.
Meet our staff we have some wonderful employees to help you!
Candi (daughter) is Manager and she has been here since day one. She is very knowledgeable, reliable and well versed in all aspects of the business. Candi does a lot of the ordering and is willing to look for those special things you want that we don't carry.
Crystal (granddaughter) joined our staff in the fall of 2004. She takes care of the fabric department and most likely be able to tell you exactly where a bolt is at (and there is over 17,000 bolts). What a memory.
Bonnie is on her second time around with us and has the needlework, yarn, arts & crafts section.
Jerri makes a lot of the displays seen in the shop and helps where-ever she is needed.
Carol and Kathy have been here since early 2011, they are both knowledgeable about quilting and are ready to help.
Marjorie has been quilting for years and is quite knowledgeable.
Mary our instructor for BOM and Thimbleberries plus other classes and is also a designer of her own pattern line.
We started with about 500 sq feet of store and now have 6000 sq feet. So come visit us when you are in the area as needless to say only a small part of what we carry is on this web site.
We participate in 2 shop hops each year. Work with our local quilt guild. Do quilts and blocks for the school's Dollar for Scholars fund-raiser. We have been the quilt shop on several cruises to Alaska and Gee-Gee has taught paper piecing on them as well.
Be sure to check out the patterns as Gee-Gee has designed several. There are also a couple of patterns designed by Gee and Mary.
Well hope I haven't bored you too much as I could go on and on.
Happy quilting to you all!
